Color/Appearance: Heartwood color ranges from light yellowish to medium brown, sometimes with darker streaks. Lighter portions of heartwood aren’t clearly demarcated from sapwood.
 
Description Of The Tree
It is often about 10 to 20 m in height, with a trunk diameter of about 40 to 60 cm. Heights of over 30 m and trunk diameters of up to 90 cm are also possible.
 
Distribution: From southern Mexico to Brazil
 
Freijo is reported to occur in Para and in the Tocantins and Xingu River basins of Brazil.

Common Uses: Veneer, furniture, turned objects, cabinetry, boatbuilding, and millwork

Freijo is known by an abundance of common names, (such as Laurel Blanco), and is a relative of the more commonly-known Bocote and Ziricote. Its appearance has been compared to teak or mahogany, though it bears no direct botanical relation to either.
